FedEx dimensional weight
FedEx bills the greater of what your parcel weighs and what its size implies. Below is the divisor, the rounding rule most calculators ignore, and a worked example you can check against your own invoice.
FedEx — US & intl (in / lb)
FedEx publishes rounding to the NEAREST whole inch, and one divisor across US, Puerto Rico and international. FedEx does not publish a result-rounding increment on this page, so none is applied here — your invoice may round up to the next whole pound.
Worked example
Divisor 139, checked 2026-08-24. Carrier source
FedEx rounds every measurement to the nearest whole unit, and publishes no result-rounding increment on this schedule. In the example above that costs you 15.76 lb of empty space — you pay for 21.76 lb on a parcel weighing 6 lb.
FedEx — International (cm / kg)
For metric, FedEx rounds each measurement UP to the next-higher centimetre. FedEx also publishes 305 for inches-to-kilograms.
Worked example
Divisor 5,000, checked 2026-08-24. Carrier source
FedEx rounds every measurement up to the next whole unit, and publishes no result-rounding increment on this schedule. In the example above that costs you 1.94 kg of empty space — you pay for 9.94 kg on a parcel weighing 8 kg.
Try it with your own box
The calculator applies FedEx's own rounding rule, then works backwards to the largest box that would still bill on actual weight — the number that tells you how much packaging headroom you have before dimensional weight takes over.
